Piper's Contribution to the Herd:
Piper is our foundation doe and a cornerstone of our breeding program. A substantial, powerful doe, she brings strength, depth, and durability to the herd. During her first Linear Appraisal in 2025, at seven years of age, Piper did measure slightly over height, which impacted her General Appearance score. Despite this, she remains a strong, deep-bodied, and efficient doe who is an exceptionally easy keeper.
Piper has proven herself not only in structure but also in legacy, having produced five quality daughters that continue to influence our herd. She is a doe we deeply value and one who will spend her lifetime with us.
As we look ahead, Piper begins an exciting new chapter with the 2026 kidding season, serving as a recipient for IVF embryos from another doe. Her full story and contributions to our program are detailed below.
Our journey into Nigerian Dwarf goats began quite modestly. When we first decided to add goats to our farm, we placed a deposit on two wether kids. That year, however, the breeder had only does available, and we purchased two twin doelings. During one of our visits, a tiny black doe—just days old—ran straight up to my daughter and climbed into her lap. We asked about her immediately, only to learn she had already been sold. As fate would have it, the sale later fell through, and she was offered to us. We didn’t hesitate. Those three little doelings marked the true beginning of our herd.
These girls came from a quality breeding program, though the breeder did not participate in showing or milk testing. I fell in love with the handmade soap the breeder gave me, and I really wanted to learn to make soap and cheese, which naturally led to the decision to breed one of our does.
Piper became one of our foundation goats and our first step into the world of intentional breeding. Since the breeder did not own bucks, we were referred to Jennifer Davis of Hidden Hills Nigerians. Piper was bred to Wood Bridge Farm Valedictorian, and on March 20, 2020—the very day much of the world shut down due to COVID—she delivered twin doelings, Cleo and Chloe.
That day marked far more than just a kidding. It was the beginning of our involvement in goat shows, Linear Appraisal, and milk testing—and the start of a valued friendship with Jennifer Davis. What began as a simple plan for pet goats had quietly transformed into a lifelong passion for the Nigerian Dwarf breed.
