Maverick has really grown up. Not only does he have great hair, but he also has an awesome pedigree behind him. His dam, Noall’s Ark G Gourmandise (7*M VVEE 90) has been on the Elite Doe List for the past two years and she’s only 3 years old. This year she is in the 98th percentile and projected to milk at least 1220 pounds - and this is on an extended lactation (over 439 days in milk). His granddam Noall’s Ark D’A Gruyere (6*M VEEE 90) and great granddam Redstone C Mimolette (5*M VVEE 90) have also been on the Elite Doe List, so milk production is definitely in Maverick’s pedigree.  A large portion of the Noall’s Ark does are on the Elite Doe List, so they are doing something right!

I only have one daughter out of Maverick this year (Slidewater Kona). Kona’s dam is Slidewater V Cleo who is currently my best milker. Cleo doesn’t have the dynasty behind her (yet) to achieve any mention on the Elite Doe List, but she is expected to milk at least 1100 pounds this year. Kona is still young, and we have not seen her full potential yet, but I’m hopeful she inherits the best of both her parents and will be a powerful milker when she kids next spring. I did take Kona to the 2023 National Show, and while both judges pointed and discussed her several times, ultimately, she did not make the top 20 cut (out of 72 goats in her class).
